But where are the best kitesurfing spots in Cabarete? Don’t be fooled by our town’s small size. Cabarete may only have one main road (fun fact!), but it’s got plenty of kiteboarding spots. And they all offer a distinct set of unique kitesurfing conditions, so you can find something that works for you.

Kitesurfing at Cabarete Bay
Cabarete Bay is an excellent kiteboarding spot for beginners and experienced kitesurfers, but there are a few things to be aware of if you’re planning on kiting there.
It’s spacious, and the wind blows nice and steady, but Cabarete Bay is populated by numerous restaurants and bars packed with people in high season. You’ll see lots of non-kiters tanning, playing beach games, and walking, which can make launching and landing your kite a bit of a hassle, especially if you’re not a confident rider. And remember to pay attention to swimmers!
Kitesurfing at Bozo Beach
Bozo Beach is situated just in between Cabarete Bay and Kite Beach. The conditions at Bozo Beach are similar to that at Cabarete Bay, but the wind can be a little gustier, and the waves are bigger. It’s fine for intermediate riders, but the shore break and current can make it harder for beginners to enter the water.
On the upside, there is more space and fewer non-kiters than at Cabarete Bay!
Kitesurfing at Encuentro
Even though Encuentro is known for surfing, it’s also a fun kiteboarding spot if you’re into strapless kitesurfing.
Encuentro beach is gorgeous, and not many people kite there, which makes it a good choice for advanced riders who want to get away from it all. This location boasts of the most rad waves in Cabarete, so it’s great for practicing boosting on your twin tip and smashing the waves on your directional.
Be careful when entering or exiting the water because it’s easy to step on a sea urchin. Ouch!
Kitesurfing at La Boca
An unusual kitesurfing location, La Boca is not a beach but a river mouth. What can we say? Cabarete has it all!

The downsides are that La Boca is a small spot, and only a few people can kite there simultaneously. If you’re an intermediate rider, we recommend taking more lessons before kiting at La Boca.
Kitesurfing at Kite Beach
Cabarete Kite Point’s favorite, Kite Beach, is a fantastic kitesurfing spot for beginners and advanced riders. Kite Beach has a reef that creates semi-flat water on the inside and nice waves on the outside. That means you can have the best of both worlds in one location. It also has an intimate, kitesurfing-centered vibe, so no people are tanning and swimming (for the most part). To be fair, the beach is sort of small, so some people feel it can get too crowded.
