2018 Cabrinha Double Agent Foil Board Unpacking and Assembly

The board, the foil kit, and the extra masts were all packed nicely, so everything arrived in perfect condition after traveling internationally to our Cabarete kitesurfing center.

It didn’t come with instructions inside any of the boxes, so here is an easy 2018 Double Agent Manual download from the Cabrinha website.

Assembly is pretty intuitive, and it comes with the 5mm Allen wrench needed to put it all together. You will need to bring your own Phillips head screwdriver if you want to put the straps and fins on. If you plan on changing the mast that came with the foil kit, you should also bring a rubber mallet to bang the head off of the mast. At first, we thought it wasn’t going to come off, but with a little brute force, it finally did. So don’t be afraid to bang on that sucker.

Riding the 2018 Cabrinha Double Agent Board

The first thing that comes to mind when you open the box is, “Wow! That’s a pretty board.” But we are the type of kiteboarding school that is into function over form, so we are always more interested in performance and durability than looks.

The deck is of compression molded construction, which makes it durable and lightweight. It’s more like a twin tip or wake skate than a directional in that respect. Great for traveling!

Cabrinha’s product description states that the shape of the board was designed to be lively and responsive in a wide range of conditions. Upon first glance, it looks as though the board is not floaty enough for a beginner/intermediate kitesurfer. We were pleasantly surprise to find that it’s just floaty enough. To our surprise, the thin profile and the extra textured deck pad make it easy to get up on strapless.

Sticking to the durability theme the mast and fuselage are aluminum. The low aspect wings contribute to the ease of getting up on the foil. You shouldn’t expect to win a race with this foil. Instead, use it to enjoy a controlled, yet maneuverable, cruising session in light wind. You should be able to get out there in about 8knots of wind.

If you set it up to ride with the four surf fins, you can expect to have a nice “bump and jump style directional board.” It has the flex of a Cabrinha Ace, and that makes for softer landings, smooth turns, and forgiveness in different conditions.
