Five Reasons Kite Beach Is The Best Beach for Kiteboarding in Cabarete

You already know that Cabarete, Dominican Republic is one of the best places to kitesurf (or learn how to kitesurf) worldwide. But what is the best beach for kiteboarding in Cabarete? Don’t be tricked by Cabarete’s size. Our dreamy town is small but has plenty of options for aspiring or seasoned Kite-A-Holics. Cabarete Bay, Bozo Beach, and Kite Beach are all popular options. “Popular” is fine, but we know that you deserve the best. After all, you didn’t travel all the way to the adventure sports capital of the Caribbean to not enjoy the perfect kiting conditions, right?

So, let us let you in on a local secret. There is no better place to kite in Cabarete than Kite Beach. And here are five excellent reasons why.

Perfect Kiting Conditions on Kite Beach in Cabarete

Kite Beach didn’t get its name out of nowhere. Its natural conditions are ideal for beginner kitesurfing lessons and independent riders alike. Kite Beach’s secret is its proximity to a reef, which creates flatter water on the inside and strong waves on the outside. There is also little to no shore break (usually). These lovely traits make learning to kitesurf easier. A small shore break means getting into the water is easier than a beach with a large shore break, and the flatter water makes body dragging and getting up on the board more manageable, too. Kite Beach is the only beach in Cabarete with beginner-friendly flatter water like this. So, take advantage of it.

Are you already an independent kiter? Kite Beach has plenty for you to enjoy, too. The waves about 200m offshore are fantastic for shredding. Depending on the time of the year, the waves can be from ½m to 2m tall. So, feel free to use them to boost or ride with your directional.

Are you into kite foiling? Perfecto! You will see the foilers out in the late morning, taking advantage of the lighter winds. Remember that smaller shore break that we talked about earlier? Yea, that makes it easier to enter the water with your foil. Because who really likes smashing their board into their ribs first thing in the morning?

What’s important is that you always have an option of both flat water and waves. Mix it up!

People Come To Kite Beach in Cabarete to Kite, Not to Tan

You’d be surprised, but not everyone comes to Cabarete to kite. It’s also a digital nomad hub and popular with those looking for a traditional beach vacation. As a result, Cabarete Bay and Bozo Beach are full of non-kiters, especially during the high season. This means that there will be people swimming and building sandcastles while you’re trying to have a kiting sesh. This can be not only annoying but also dangerous for beginners and independent kiters. You wouldn’t want to land your kite on a tourist trying to get rid of their tan lines. You also wouldn’t want to not notice their friend in the water. You get the idea.

People come to Kite Beach to kite. Here you won’t have to watch out for kids playing in the waves or couples taking a romantic beach walk. The entire beach is yours to learn and practice without distractions. This is also why the pros kite here. In fact, you could run into a kiteboarding star like Adeuri Corniel or Luis Alberto Cruz. Pretty cool, huh?

Kite Beach Has An Intimate Vibe

Kite Beach’s vibe is intimate but not exclusive. It’s not as big as Cabarete Bay or Bozo Beach, and everyone seems to know each other. Yet, it’s easy to fit in. Kiters meet and mingle over food and drinks at cute cafes like ours, El Cocotazo Cafe. You are guaranteed to make new friends fast.

Because of its size, Kite Beach sometimes gets crowded – especially during the winter when everyone travels. Entering the water with so many kiters already out there might feel scary. But there are actually advantages to it. It’s easy for others to see you in the water. So, if you lose your board, someone will bring it to you. And if you are learning how to kite, you’ll wear a helmet. This signals to other kiters that you are a student, and they will be more careful around you.

No Rip Currents On Kite Beach

Still not convinced? Kite Beach is not only fun but also safe. There are generally no rip currents, which can be an unpleasant (and sometimes life-threatening) occurrence on other beaches in Cabarete. Trust us, being carried away by a rip will not be a happy vacation memory.
