Wave Kitesurfing Lessons – Radical!
So, you're ready to start shredding some gnar, you say? In other words, you want to ride the waves! We think that at some point every kiter wants to take it to another dimension and see what it feels like to take on a swell. It’s perfectly fine to embark on this mission on your own, but learning wave riding skills with professional instruction will get you further faster. From understanding the break to wave selection, at Cabarete Kite Point Kiteboarding School we have specialty instructors for kiters looking to hop on a directional board.
Am I ready for wave kitesurfing lessons?
Your riding level will be assessed before we start according to the international standards for what they consider to be a Level 4 Advanced Rider, which is ready to move on to advanced kiteboarding lessons.
So you should be proficient in the following skills: jump, power jibe, jump transition, recover another rider, and understand weather and tides.
What can I learn during wave riding lessons?
First things first, you have to master the kite. Second, you need to control the power of the kite on top of a directional board (strapless or with straps). Third, is understanding how to use the power of the wave. Ultimately, learning how to do all three of these things in unison is the goal.
You will also learn other fundamentals like reading the break, which board is right for you, and choosing a kite.
